Marcus Mathurin

Boys Varsity Head Coach

Marcus enters his third season of coaching and his first as Varsity Head Coach at Chicago Central. A lifelong Chicagoan, Marcus has a deep connection to the local hockey community and a strong understanding of what the game demands — on and off the ice.

Marcus played club college hockey at the University of Illinois before transitioning to coaching, starting at the junior varsity level and most recently serving as JV Head Coach last season.

As a coach, Marcus is focused on skill development, accountability, and creating an environment where student-athletes can grow and compete at their best. He looks forward to building on the program's foundation alongside our players, families, and coaching staff this season.

Viktor Kulik

Boys JV Head Coach

Viktor was born in former Czechoslovakia and grew up playing organized travel hockey across Slovakia before relocating to the Czech Republic to pursue the game at a higher level.

After several seasons of junior hockey, Viktor made the move to the United States and transitioned from player to coach. Now a Level 4 USA Hockey certified coach, he comes to Chicago Central from Las Vegas, where he spent several seasons coaching multiple U14 Las Vegas Storm travel teams and the Bishop Gorman High School program.

Viktor is excited to work with the players this season, with a focus on the skill development and hockey IQ needed to help them make the leap to the varsity level.

Alex Smat

Boys Varsity Assistant Coach & Goaltending Coach

Alex enters his second season with Chicago Central and his first on the Varsity staff. A Chicago-area native, Alex brings over 15 years of goaltending experience to the program, having played high school hockey with the Saint Ignatius Wolfpack and club hockey with the Chicago Jets, Bulldogs, Stallions, Express, and CYA. He went on to play at John Carroll University's ACHA Division 1 Club program in Cleveland, helping JCU reach the ACHA National Tournament in 2022. Outside of hockey, Alex works in management consulting and enjoys golf and travel.

Daniel Witte

Boys Varsity Assistant Coach

Daniel enters his second season as a Varsity Assistant Coach at Chicago Central. A Milwaukee native, he played A-level youth hockey before joining Wisconsin AAA his freshman year of high school, then went on to play his final three years of high school hockey at Marquette University High School.

Outside of hockey, Daniel enjoys exploring Chicago's parks, beaches, and nearby hiking trails with his girlfriend Kristine and their rescue dog Artoo. He spent much of his younger years traveling the country chasing live music — particularly Phish and Goose — though his focus has since shifted toward international travel and experiencing new cultures, cuisines, and landscapes. During the warmer months he can reliably be found playing golf courses throughout the Midwest. As long as the courses are open and the snow hasn't arrived, he's always happy to tee it up.

Julia Maguire

Boys JV Assistant Coach

Julia brings nearly two decades of hockey experience to Chicago Central as a Level 2 USA Hockey certified coach. She played four years of NCAA hockey at Mercyhurst and Lindenwood University before transitioning to coaching, working with both individual players and teams across the country — from Chicago to Nashville. Originally from West Michigan, Julia now calls Skokie home. And if anyone ever needs a sub goalie, she's still playing all around town.
